With every twist and turn of my life’s journey, I’ve always wanted to make an impact and a difference to someone.
This has led me into translation, as I’ve always wanted to make sure that somebody can understand something in their own language that they couldn’t otherwise.
Lately, I’ve been aiming to specialise in medical and pharmaceutical translation as I have had a small career in healthcare administration and it was always nice to receive a thank you from a patient that I helped, all be it, in a small way to heal. Or even, one I don’t remember helping while working at a doctor’s office.
A man came out of his appointment with a doctor, one day, and turned to me as I was walking up the corridor and said, “Thank you and to all your team. The doctor has just told me my cancer is in remission and he was the first person to tell me I might have it in the first place.” I did not recognise this patient at all but his words will echo forever in my head.
I implore you to find a part of your career that makes an impact to others and leaves you finishing work every day with a sense of achievement as there are many people out there that do not feel good about their work and we should all feel good in what we do.
