I thought I would jump on the bandwagon and discuss the use of AI in terms of translation.
Sure, it enables many people to increase turnaround times and save money by getting an AI to do the translation for them. As a disclaimer, I built this website, at first, using AI, then built upon it.
But as many of us who work in the translation agency cry; it’s not as simple as that.
AI Translation can save time and foster new ideas but it can also hinder the livelihoods of many by producing poor quality output for little money. People prefer this for the time and money saved but human expertise is still needed to produce quality work and it enables more people to make an honest living by creating the content people desperately need.
It can also avoid risk, be that, financial legal or medical, as AI does not know every little detail when it comes to laws and regulations. But a specialised human translator can help with this so that everything created can make the impact it needs to. Every time.
Just think about that, the next time you decide to translate something. Would a human be better for my needs?
